Consecutive interpreting

Interpretación consecutiva y reuniones profesionales

A suitable mode for training courses, negotiations, visits, presentations, press conferences, trials, hearings and notarial proceedings.

The interpreter listens to the speaker, takes notes and delivers the interpretation when the speaker finishes a section or pauses. Unlike simultaneous interpreting, the two do not speak at the same time.

The speaker must pause to allow the interpreter to work. This extends the meeting, but can be highly effective for negotiations, interviews, speeches or training with a small number of participants.

It normally requires no booth or technical equipment and, depending on the duration and working conditions, may be carried out by a single interpreter.

When it may be the best option

  • Meetings with a small number of participants.
  • Site visits and negotiations.
  • Training with frequent interaction.
  • Statements, trials and notarial proceedings.
