In simultaneous interpreting, interpreters convey the speaker’s message while the speaker is talking. Booths, receivers, headsets and microphones are normally used, although the technical solution will depend on the meeting.
Where the assignment permits, ANAVI selects professionals able to work both into Spanish and into their other active language. This retour interpreting can reduce the number of booths, interpreters and equipment required.
The level of concentration required is extremely high. Meetings lasting more than ninety minutes normally require two interpreters, alternating approximately every thirty minutes. Longer working days may require a larger team.
The technical solution depends on the number of attendees, the venue, the languages and the dynamics of the event. A portable simultaneous interpreting system may be suitable for small meetings or practical training sessions.
